The site of the village school for more than 100 years, the lodge now welcomes travellers to Northern Finland to stay, have Finnish meals, relax in sauna and enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep. The lodge serves as HQ for our Adventures.

Experience the peace of the North in your own private 4-6 person room. We offer cozy accommodations for up to four people, including a bathroom located in the lobby or ensuite.
Start your day with our add-on breakfast in the dining room, which also serves as a perfect spot to relax in the evenings. Your stay includes full access to our evening sauna, sports hall, and a traditional Finnish “kota” (outdoor hut with fireplace) for cooking outdoor meals.

Unique Accommodation in Kuusamo Countryside
Adventure Apes Lodge is located in the small village of Vasaraperä surrounded by lakes, forests and fields in the beautiful countryside and a 30-minute drive to the town of Kuusamo and Ruka Ski Center.
We offer cosy accommodations in traditional Finnish style for individuals and groups. The lodge also serves as the home base for Adventure Apes tours.
Multi-purpose room
The dining room converts to a teaching or meeting space with WiFi, built-in projector and large screen perfect for movies, seminars and presentations. There are also plenty of board games on hand!
Six Rooms
6 renovated rooms to provide clean and cozy, standard-level accommodation for 29 people in total. Each room has a private bathroom, either ensuite or in the corridor.
Traditional Sauna
Traditional wood heated sauna that accommodates up to 10 people.
Our sauna is rich in history as it played a central role in the area. During the lodge renovation we maintained as much of the original school house sauna.
Lappish Hut
Traditional Lappish teepee for campfires, storytelling and outdoor cooking. Add on to your stay a complete dining experience in the kota!
Sports Hall
The original sports hall of the village school is for indoor sports such as volleyball, basketball, floorball, badminton, yoga, relaxation and stretching. The sports hall is also used by the people from the village, so be sure to check the schedule on the door for availability.
Accessible
Our lodge was renovated with accessibility in mind, including accessible common areas and one fully accessible double room. We welcome travellers with physical disabilities or other special requirements. Just let us know what you might need.

It is easy to get to the lodge by public bus service either from Kuusamo or Rovaniemi. However, the timetable is limited so please check the schedule well in advance if you are planning to travel by bus. (See the bus timetable here from Kuusamo or Rovaniemi to “Vasaraperä” as your destination. The bus stop is right in front of the Lodge.)
