Experience an unforgettable 6-day, 5-night winter skiing expedition, through the stunning landscapes of Kuusamo and Posio, journeying across the frozen lakes and forests of Livojärvi and Kitkajärvi. Along the way, participants will stay in wilderness huts and tents, enjoy cozy campfire evenings, traditional saunas, and optional winter activities like ice fishing and snowshoeing.

Weather
Finnish winter conditions may vary a lot, but temperature is typically from -10 to -30 degrees Celsius. Daylight is around 3–10 hours. The weather may change from full sunlight to a dense snowing during the day.

Flights or Visas. Hotels before or after the start of the tour. Airfare or other transportation before or after the start of the tour. Personal outdoor clothing and gear (a complete list will be provided before arrival). Single room accommodation. Meals, snacks or drinks other than those listed in tour program. Personal travel insurance (required). Optional add-ons.

Skiing Expedition
Day 1: ARRIVAL AT ADVENTURE APES LODGE
Arrivals from Kuusamo Airport, Hostel Aurora or Kuusamon Tropiikki Spa hotel. Arrival at Adventure Apes lodge. Gear preparations & packing sledges. Test tours with gear. Introduction to Finnish Sauna. Accommodation in Adventure Apes Lodge
Meals included: Lunch, Dinner
Day 2: START OF THE EXPEDITION
Transfer to the expedition starting point. Start of the expedition through a forest route (hiking distance 10 kilometres). Camp lunch along the way. Arrival to a wilderness hut by a lake. Dinner and wilderness sauna. Optional ice swimming. Accommodation in wilderness hut or in optional twin shared tents.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, evening snack
Day 3: SECOND DAY OF EXPEDITION
Breakfast & cleaning up the wilderness hut, packing sledges and getting on the trail. Hike through lakes, fields and forests (hiking distance 7-9 kilometres). Camp lunch along the way. Dinner and accommodation in wilderness hut or in optional twin shared tents.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, evening snack
Day 4: THIRD DAY OF THE EXPEDITION
Lazy morning with time to rewind. Breakfast, after which optional ice fishing. Lunch, after which optional snowshoe hike (hiking distance 5 kilometres). Dinner and wilderness sauna with optional ice swimming. Evening snacks around an open fire

Day 5: FOURTH DAY OF EXPEDITION
Leaving the wilderness hut after breakfast. Full day hike (hiking distance 14-16 kilometres) through lake Kitka with a camp lunch along the way. Arrival to the Adventure Apes Lodge at the evening. Gear maintenance, dinner and sauna.

Day 6: DEPARTURE
Breakfast, farewells and airport transfers.

The site of the village school for more than 100 years, the lodge now welcomes travellers to Northern Finland to stop in and share a traditional Finnish meal with locals, have a relaxing sauna and enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep.
Located in the small village of Vasaraperä surrounded by lakes, forests and fields in the beautiful countryside and a 30-minute drive to the town of Kuusamo and Ruka Ski Center.
We offer cosy accommodations in traditional Finnish style for individuals and groups. The lodge also serves as the home base for Adventure Apes tours.
