On September 19, 2023, Adventure Apes was represented at the Lakeland Summit in Joensuu — a national seminar organized by Visit Finland and Visit Karelia.
The event brought together tourism professionals, policymakers, and regional developers to explore how diversity, equity, inclusion, and social sustainability can be strengthened across the Finnish tourism sector.
Our travel coordinator, Poorani Elangovan Kuusela, delivered a thoughtful presentation focused on the social sustainability of tourism professionals. Her keynote emphasized the responsibility we carry as industry actors to embody and promote values of diversity, equity, and inclusion — not only in the experiences we design, but also in how we work, collaborate, and communicate.
The summit served as an important platform for sharing perspectives and practices that support a more inclusive and resilient future for tourism in Finland.
