We were delighted to welcome pupils and staff from Penrhos Avenue Pupil Referral Unit (Conwy) to Adventure Apes adventure week in Kuusamo. The visit brought a lively mix of curiosity, teamwork and hands‑on nature learning: students explored forest trails, tried sensory wellbeing exercises, and took part in simple outdoor tasks designed to build confidence and connection with the local environment
Our team focused on accessible, low‑threshold activities so every pupil could join in — from guided forest walks and storytelling to practical nature crafts and outdoor safety skills. Teachers and carers told us the day helped the group relax, engage with peers and take part in something meaningful outside the classroom.
Visits like this remind us why community‑rooted, inclusive nature programmes matter: they open doors, invite new kinds of learning, and create memories that last. If your school or group is interested in a tailored visit to Kuusamo, get in touch and we’ll design a programme that fits your group’s needs and learning goals
